Photographer shot

I am a self taught photographer. Since 2008, when I was given a FinePix Green Camera for Christmas, I have been fascinated in capturing beautiful places or nature through the lens. I like my images to convey a story or give an insight into history or to display the beauty of the earth.

Third Eye Picture - Photo of the week

Photo of the Week

My new project for 2015 is Photo of the Week. My plan is to post a photo for every week of the year to document a timeline of the places I visit, beautiful nature I see and wildlife I come across. It leads on from Photo of the Day where I documented our Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience in 2013.

The Third Eye Project

I developed the Third Eye Project to show off my best photographs. They are sorted into Landscapes, Flowers, Cakes and Bakes and Architecture. These are the subjects that inspire me and there are a wide variety of different subjects within these.

On Location :

My On Location: projects were originally and are still part of a project exploring Victor Hugo and Les Miserables and Charles Dickens and Oliver Twist. These books have been very influential in my life and one thing that particularly resonated with me was how much the sense of place mattered to both authors. Similar 19th Century novels are very entertaining but don't have the same accuracy of detail in where they are set. This made me think and I started to, with the help of other sources, compile maps of London and Paris with the locations described in the book.

On Location: Les Miserables

The first section of On Location: Les Miserables contains a precis of what happens at each location and illustrations of the action from original edition. The second has my photographs from my planned visit to Paris with my notes I wrote in the hotel room after exploring the locations and a reflection from when I arrived back. I was very inspired by Paris as a whole and I hope it reflects in photos and writing.

On Location: Oliver Twist

On Location: Oliver Twist also has the precis of the action that ocurs at each location and illustrations. I acted as tour guide when I visited the locations with a Blue Badge city guide in 2011 but plan to return this year to document it with photos and my thoughts to complete this project.

On Location: David Maxwell Fyfe

On the film project, Under an English Heaven, I was the stills photographer so I had a huge backlog of photos that were being kept in folders on my computer of the places we filmed. All of the places were stunning and had significance in the life of Maxwell Fyfe so to promote the Dreams of Peace and Freedom tour, I decided to compile a choice few photographs to describe the life of David Maxwell Fyfe as well as describing what happened in each place. Each location is in three sections for three locations with quotes from his autobiography and panorama photographs.
